Description: rgod has discovered a vulnerability in CyberLink PowerDVD, which can be exploited by malicious people to overwrite arbitrary files.
The vulnerability is caused due to the CLAVSetting.CLSetting.1 (CLAVSetting.dll) ActiveX control including the insecure "CreateNewFile()" method, which creates a file specified as an argument. This can be exploited to overwrite and corrupt arbitrary files in the system in the context of the currently logged-in user via directory traversal attacks.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 7.0. Other versions may also be affected.
