Description: Ruben Santamarta has reported some vulnerabilities and a weakness in SpeedFan, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to bypass certain security restrictions, cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or gain escalated privileges.
1) Input validation errors within the 0x9C402438 and 0x9C40243C IOCTL handlers of Speedfan.sys can be exploited to e.g. access the said IOCTL handlers and overwrite arbitrary memory or load arbitrary unsigned drivers on Windows Vista.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code with kernel privileges.
2) An error within the 0x9c402420 IOCTL handler can be exploited to e.g. crash the system.
The vulnerabilities and weakness are reported in version 4.33. Other versions may also be affected.
