Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in IBM Lotus Notes, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

1) An error in the third-party WordPerfect file viewer (wp6sr.dll) can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by tricking a user into viewing a malicious WordPerfect document.

2) A boundary error in the third-party EML file viewer (emlsr.dll) can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow by tricking a user into viewing a malicious EML file containing an overly long "Content-Type" string.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.

Solution:
According to the vendor, a fix is scheduled for version 8.0.1.

Provided and/or discovered by:
1) Tan Chew Keong, vuln.sg.
2) Silently fixed by Autonomy in version 2.0.0.4 of emlsr.dll.

Changelog:
2007-11-05: Added information about emlsr.dll vulnerability silently fixed in other products.
