CVE-2007-5956
CVE-2007-5957

Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in IBM Informix Dynamic Server, which potentially can be exploited by a malicious, local user to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or gain escalated privileges.

1) An input validation error when processing the DBLANG environment variable can be exploited to e.g. cause set-uid binaries to use arbitrary Native Language Support (NLS) message files via directory traversal attacks.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code with root privileges.

2) An unspecified error when using SQ_ONASSIST requests can be exploited to crash the application on Windows systems.

Vulnerability #1 is reported in version 10.00 UC6TL on a Linux system and versions prior to 9.40.*C10. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 10.00.xC7W1 or 9.40.*C10.

Provided and/or discovered by:
1) Discovered by an anonymous researcher and reported via iDefense Labs.
