A weakness has been reported in Samhain, which can be exploited by malicious people to disclose potentially sensitive information and to perform brute force attacks.
The weakness is caused due to the improper seeding of the random number generator. This can be exploited to disclose potentially sensitive information transmitted during the client/server communication process, or during the forwarding of the logfile and email reports, and to perform brute force attacks when using passwords generated using the yule password generating function (yule -G).
The weakness is reported in version 2.4.0 and 2.4.0a.
Solution: Update to version 2.4.1.
