Beskrivelse:
Der er rapporteret et sikkerhedsproblem i Linux Kernel, som kan udnyttes af ondsindede, lokale brugere til at få kendskab til potentielt følsom information.

Problemet skyldes, at funktionen "do_coredump()" i fs/exec.c ikke kontrollerer en "core dump" fils bruger-ID korrekt, når en core dumpes til en eksisterende fil. Dette kan udnyttes til at få kendskab til følsom information ved at få en applikation med et andet bruger-ID til at dumpe en core til en eksisterende fil.

Sikkerhedsproblemet er rapporteret i version 2.4.x og 2.6.x tidligere end 2.6.24-rc4.

Løsning:
Rettet i stable prepatch version 2.6.24-rc4.
