Description:
Sun has acknowledged a vulnerability in Solaris, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions.

The vulnerability is caused due to an unspecified error, which can be exploited by malicious people to gain root access to an NFS share.

Successful exploitation requires that the system is sharing root access to remote clients using the "root=" option and is mounting the file systems either as read-only ("ro=" option) or as read-write ("rw=" option), and that the "ipnodes" or the "hosts" entry in /etc/nsswitch.conf uses only "files" to define the source.

The vulnerability affects the following products:
* Solaris 10 for the SPARC platform with kernel patches 120011-04 or later.
* Solaris 10 for the x86 platform with kernel patches 120012-04 or later.
