CVE-2007-6574

Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in Dokeos, which can be exploited by malicious users to compromise a vulnerable system and by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

1) The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the handling of file uploads to "My productions" under "My profile", if a filename has multiple file extensions (e.g. "file.php.1"). This can be exploited to upload and execute arbitrary PHP code.

Successful exploitation requires valid user credentials and a certain server configuration (e.g. an Apache server with the "mod_mime" module installed).

2) Input passed to the "forum" parameter in main/forum/viewforum.php and main/forum/viewthread.php or the "origin" parameter in main/work/work.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.8.4. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Apply Dokeos 1.8.4 SP1 or later.
