Secunia Advisory SA28272

Where:

From remote

Impact:

DoS, System access

Solution Status:

Unpatched

CVE Reference(s):

Description

Luigi Auriemma has discovered some vulnerabilities in Foxit WAC Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or to compromise a vulnerable system.

1) A boundary error within the Foxit WAC Server service (wacsvr.exe) can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted packet sent to the Telnet port (default port 23/TCP).

2) An error exists within the Foxit WAC Server service (wacsvr.exe) when processing SSH packets. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via an overly long SSH packet sent to the SSH port (default port 22/TCP).

Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities allows execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.0 build 3503. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Restrict network access to the service.
