Description

Some vulnerabilities have been reported in MyBB, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct SQL injection or cross-site request forgery attacks.

1) Input passed to the "options[disablesmilies]" parameter through private.php to inc/datahandlers/pm.php is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires valid user credentials, that the private message system is enabled, and knowledge of a valid username to send the message to.

2) The application allows users to perform certain actions via HTTP requests, without performing any validity checks to verify the request. This can be exploited to e.g. delete threads by tricking a moderator into visiting a malicious site.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 1.2.11 and prior.

Solution
Update to version 1.2.12.
