Description: Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in PHP-Nuke, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct SQL injection attacks and disclose potentially sensitive information, and by malicious people to conduct SQL injection and cross-site scripting attacks.
1) Input passed to the "sid" parameter through modules.php to modules/Search/index.php (when "type" is set to "comments") is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation allows e.g. retrieving the administrator password hash, but requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled - not the value recommended by the installer - and having knowledge of the database table prefix.
2) Input passed to the "gfx_check" and "random_number" parameter in modules.php (when "name" is set to "Your_Account") is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
3) Input passed to the "url" parameter through modules.php to modules/Downloads/index.php (when "d_op" is set to "Add") is not properly sanitised before being used in an SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires valid user credentials.
4) Input passed via the "Referer" HTTP header to index.php is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.
5) Input passed to the "theme" parameter when changing the theme using the "Your_Account" module is not properly verified before being stored and used. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from local resources via directory traversal attacks.
Successful exploitation requires a valid user account.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 8.0. Other versions may also be affected.
