Description:
IBM has acknowledged some vulnerabilities in Informix Storage Manager, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or potentially compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerabilities are caused due to various unspecified errors within the XDR library used for RPC services. This can be exploited to cause stack and heap-based buffer overflows by sending specially crafted RPC calls to a vulnerable service.

The vulnerability is reported in IBM Informix Dynamic Server 10.00.xC8 and below for Windows 32 and IBM Informix Dynamic Server 11.10.xC2 and below for Windows 32 and Windows x64. Unix versions are reportedly not affected.

Solution:
Apply updates as soon as available or contact the customer support for a special build.

IBM Informix Dynamic Server 11.10.xC2 or below:
Update to IBM Informix Dynamic Server 11.10.xC2W1 (release planned end of February 2008)

IBM Informix Dynamic Server 10.00.xC8 or below:
IBM Informix Dynamic Server 10.00.xC8W1 (release planned beginning of March 2008 )
