Description:
A vulnerability has been discovered in Webmin and Usermin, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

Input passed to the "search" parameter in webmin_search.cgi is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

Successful exploitation requires that the target user has valid user credentials and uses a web browser that does not send "Referer" HTTP headers when performing meta refreshes (i.e. Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer, among others).

The vulnerability is confirmed in Webmin version 1.390 and Usermin version 1.320. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to Webmin 1.400 or Usermin 1.330.
