Description: Luigi Auriemma has discovered a vulnerability in RPM Remote Print Manager, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the RPM Remote Print Manager Service (RpmSrvc.exe) when handling "Receive data file" LPD (Line Printer Daemon) commands. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a "Receive data file" command with an overly long data file name.
Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in RPM Remote Print Manager version 4.5.1.11 (Elite) and also reported to affect the Select version. Other versions may also be affected.
