Description

Luigi Auriemma has discovered a vulnerability in ASUS Remote Console, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the ASUS DPC Proxy service (DpcProxy.exe) and can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by e.g. sending an overly long string to default port 623/TCP.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2.0.0.19 and reported in version 2.0.0.24. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Restrict network access to the service.
