Description: Gentoo has acknowledged a security issue in firebird, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions.
The security issue is caused due to the "/etc/conf.d/firebird" init script shipped with Gentoo's firebird package setting the "ISC_PASSWORD" environment variable when launching Firebird. This can be exploited to connect as "SYSDBA" user without having to provide any credentials.
Solution: Update to "dev-db/firebird-2.0.3.12981.0-r6" or later.
Update the Firebird configuration file and restart the Firebird service.
Provided and/or discovered by: The vendor credits Viesturs.
