Beschreibung:
Eine Sicherheitslücke in Microsoft Windows XP wurde gemeldet, die böswillige lokale Benutzer ausnutzen können, um erweiterte Rechte zu erlangen.

Ein Fehler bei der Überprüfung von Eingaben in einem bestimmten IOCTL-Handler im "I2O Utility Filter Driver" (i2omgmt.sys) und unsichere Rechte für die "\\.\I2OExc"-Geräteschnittstelle können ausgenutzt werden, um beliebigen Speicher zu überschreiben und Code mit Kernel-Privilegien auszuführen.

Die Sicherheitslücke wurde in Windows XP SP2 in "i2omgmt.sys" Version 5.1.2600.2180 gemeldet. Andere Versionen können ebenfalls betroffen sein.
