Description

Some vulnerabilities have been reported in AJ Article, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions and conduct SQL injection attacks.

1) Input passed to the "artid" parameter in featured_article.php is not properly sanitised before being used in an SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

2) Input passed via the "txtName" parameter to admin/index.php is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code and e.g. gain administrative access to the application.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

3) A vulnerability is caused due to various scripts within the "admin" folder (e.g. admin/user.php, admin/articles.php, admin/site.php) not being properly restricted to administrators. This can be exploited to e.g. perform administrative actions by accessing affected files directly.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 1.0. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised. Ensure that administrative scripts are properly restricted (e.g. via ".htaccess").
