CVE-2008-2498

Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Mambo, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL injection or HTTP response splitting attacks.

1) Input passed to the "articleid" and "mcname" parameters in index.php is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows e.g. retrieving administrator usernames and password hashes, but requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled, which is not the value recommended in the installer.

2) Certain unspecified input is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTTP headers, which will be included in a response sent to the user.

The vulnerabilities are reported in 4.6.3 and in all prior 4.6.x versions.

Solution:
Update to version 4.6.4.
