Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in Snort, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions.

The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the processing of fragmented IP packets. This can be exploited to bypass Snort rules by sending fragmented IP packets with an overly large TTL (Time To Live) difference between fragments.

The vulnerability is reported in versions 2.6 and 2.8. Prior versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 2.8.1.
