Some vulnerabilities have been reported in BMForum, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and SQL injection attacks.
1) Input passed to the "outpused" parameter in index.php, to the "footer_copyright" and "verandproname" parameters in newtem/footer/bsd01footer.php, and to the "topads" and "myplugin" parameters in newtem/header/bsd01header.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to a user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
2) Input passed to the "tagname" parameter in plugins.php (when "p" is set to "tags") is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows e.g. retrieval of administrator usernames and password hashes, but requires knowledge of the database table prefix and that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.
The vulnerabilities are reported in version 5.6. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
