Some vulnerabilities have been reported in DVBBS, which can be exploited by malicious users to potentially compromise a vulnerable system and by malicious people to disclose sensitive information, conduct SQL injection, and cross-site scripting attacks.

1) Input passed to the "username" parameter in login.asp is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

2) The filemange.asp script allow uploading of files with arbitrary extensions to a folder inside the webroot, which can be exploited to upload and execute e.g. arbitrary ASP code.

3) The security issue is caused due to the "Data/Dvbbs8.mdb" database file being stored with insecure permissions inside the web root. This can be exploited to gain knowledge of sensitive information by downloading the file.

4) Input passed to the "page" parameter in dispbbs.asp (when "BoardID" and "ID" are set) is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 8.2.0. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised. Restrict access to the filemange.asp script. Place the database file outside the webroot..
