CVE reference:CVE-2008-2631

Description:
securfrog has discovered some vulnerabilities in MDaemon, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) and by malicious users to potentially compromise a vulnerable system.

1) A NULL-pointer dereference error exists in the processing of HTTP requests sent to the WordClient interface (listening on TCP port 3000 by default). This can be exploited to crash the WordClient service by sending a specially crafted HTTP POST request to WorldClient.dll.

2) A boundary error exists in the WordClient interface when processing "Reply" requests with e.g. an overly long "Subject" field. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted email sent from the WordClient interface.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code, but requires a valid email account on the affected server.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 9.6.5. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 9.66.
