Description

Two vulnerabilities have been reported in Microsoft Windows, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

1) An input validation error in the Pragmatic General Multicast (PGM) protocol implementation can be exploited to cause an infinite loop via a specially crafted PGM packet with an invalid option length field.

Successful exploitation requires that Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) 3.0 is installed on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 (not default).

2) An input validation error in the Pragmatic General Multicast protocol implementation can be exploited to cause a vulnerable system to become non-responsive via specially crafted PGM packets with an invalid fragment option.

Successful exploitation requires that Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) 3.0 is installed on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, or MSMQ 4.0 is installed and PGM specifically enabled on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 (not default).
