Description

CWH Underground has discovered some vulnerabilities in Benja CMS, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks and bypass certain security restrictions.

1) The application does not properly restrict access to files in the admin/ folder. This can be exploited to manipulate the site and e.g. upload and execute arbitrary PHP code by accessing the scripts within the /admin/ folder directly (e.g. admin/upload.php).

2) Input passed via the URL to admin/admin_edit_submenu.php, admin/admin_new_submenu.php, and admin/admin_edit_topmenu.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in an administrator's browser session in context of an affected site.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 0.1. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Restrict access to the admin/ folder (e.g. via ".htaccess"). Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
