Luigi Auriemma and Andre Malm have reported a vulnerability in Ventrilo Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to a NULL-pointer dereference error in the processing of packets received on TCP port 3784. This can be exploited to cause a crash via a "type 0" packet having an incorrect version, followed by a packet containing arbitrary data.
The vulnerability is reported in version 3.0.2. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Restrict network access to trusted users.
