Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in HP-UX, which can be exploited by malicious users to bypass certain security restrictions.

The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the processing of authentication requests. This can be exploited by a user having valid PAM credentials to gain root FTP access if "getpwnam()" fails (i.e. the user is not present in the locally configured password database).

The vulnerability is reported in HP-UX B.11.11 running ftpd 2.4.x.
