A security issue has been reported in R, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions with escalated privileges.
The security issue is caused due to the "javareconf" script handling temporary files in an insecure manner. This can be exploited via symlink and race condition attacks to overwrite arbitrary files with the privileges of the user running the script.
The security issue is reported in version 2.7.2. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Fixed in the SVN repository.
