A security issue and a vulnerability have been reported in GeSHi, which can potentially be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system or cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
1) The security issue is caused due to an input validation error within the "set_language_path()" function, which may allow inclusion of arbitrary files from remote resources.
Successful exploitation requires that an application uses the affected function with user supplied input.
2) The vulnerability is caused due to GeSHi not properly handling missing delimiters. This can be exploited to cause an infinite loop and e.g. exhaust system resources by passing specially crafted input to GeSHi.
The security issue is reported in versions prior to 220.127.116.11 and the vulnerability is reported in version 18.104.22.168. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Update to version 22.214.171.124.
Provided and/or discovered by: Reported by the vendor.
