Description:
Zigma has discovered a vulnerability in Chilkat Socket ActiveX Component, which can be exploited by malicious people to overwrite arbitrary files.

The vulnerability is caused due to the ChilkatSocket.ChilkatSocket.1 ActiveX control (ChilkatSocket.dll) including the insecure "SaveLastError()" method. This can be exploited to overwrite and corrupt arbitrary files on the system in the context of the currently logged-on user.

This may be related to:
SA29581

The vulnerability is confirmed in ChilkatSocket.dll version 2.3.1.1. Other versions may also be affected.
