A vulnerability has been reported in Sun Solaris, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or to potentially gain escalated privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to a NULL-pointer dereference error in the IP tunnel implementation. This can be exploited to cause a crash or to potentially execute arbitrary code with escalated privileges via a specially crafted SIOCGTUNPARAM IOCTL request.
The vulnerability is reported in Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris for both the SPARC and x86 platforms.
