Description

Ubuntu has issued an update for cups and cupsys. This fixes a security issue, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions with escalated privileges.

The security issue is caused due to the example pstopdf CUPS filter creating log files in an insecure manner, which can be exploited to e.g. overwrite arbitrary files via symlink attacks.

Note: This affects Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, 7.10, and 8.04 LTS only.
