Description

Juan Pablo Lopez Yacubian has discovered a vulnerability in BitDefender Internet Security, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions.

Input passed via the filename of an infected executable is not properly sanitised before being used to output infection details. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in the context of the generated page via a specially crafted archive.

Successful exploitation may result in e.g. the execution of arbitrary script code in a local context by including a malicious HTML file placed on the local system.

The vulnerability is confirmed in BitDefender Internet Security 2009 build 12.0.11.4. Other versions may also be affected.
