Description

Jonathan Salwan has discovered a vulnerability in Sysax Multi Server, which can be exploited by malicious users to bypass certain security restrictions, disclose sensitive information, and potentially compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to an input validation error when processing FTP requests. This can be exploited to read, modify, or delete arbitrary files from the affected system via directory traversal attacks.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code by e.g. placing a malicious executable on the affected system.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 4.5. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Upgrade to version 5.57.
