Secunia Advisory SA34648

Where:

From remote

Impact:

Manipulation of data, Exposure of sensitive information

Solution Status:

Unpatched

CVE Reference(s):

Description

A vulnerability and a security issue have been reported in WebFileExplorer, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL injection attacks and to disclose sensitive information.

1) The "db.mdb" database file is stored with insecure permissions inside the "data" folder of the web root. This can be exploited to gain knowledge of sensitive information by downloading the file.

2) Input passed to the "id" parameter in body.asp is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code and e.g. bypass authentication.

The security issue and the vulnerability are reported in version 3.1. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Restrict access to the "data" folder.
