Description

Two vulnerabilities have been reported in EMC RepliStor, which can be exploited by malicious people to potentially compromise a vulnerable system.

1) An integer overflow error exists when processing messages sent to the "ctrlservice.exe" and "rep_srv.exe" services. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted message.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.

2) A vulnerability is caused due to the "DoRcvRpcCall" RPC function within "rep_srv.exe" calling "CreateProcessW" with user supplied arguments. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges.

The vulnerabilities are reported in versions 6.2 SP4 and 6.3 SP1. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Update to version 6.2 SP5 or 6.3 SP2.
