A vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Virtual PC and Microsoft Virtual Server, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to the application not properly validating required CPU privilege levels of certain machine instructions running within the guest operating system environment. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary code with escalated privileges on the guest operating system.
Successful exploitation requires a valid user account on the guest operating system.
