Description: SirGod has discovered two vulnerabilities in OpenNews, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL injection attacks and compromise a vulnerable system.
1) Input passed to the "username" parameter in admin.php is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation allows logging in as administrator without valid credentials, but requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.
2) Input passed to various parameters in admin.php (when "action" is set to "setconfig") is not properly verified before being used to update config.php. This can be exploited to insert and execute arbitrary PHP code by accessing config.php.
Successful exploitation requires valid administrator credentials or that vulnerability #1 is successfully exploited.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.0. Other versions may also be affected.
