Description:
Maxim A. Kulakov has discovered a security issue in Protector Plus, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.

The security issue is caused due to the application setting insecure default permissions on the "Protector Plus" installation directory. This can be exploited to gain escalated privileges by e.g. replacing the PPAVMON.exe binary.

The security issue is confirmed in Protector Plus Professional version 9.1.001 and Protector Plus 2009 version 8.0.E03. Other versions may also be affected.
