Description

Dr_IDE has discovered a vulnerability in Core FTP, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when resolving FTP server hostnames. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by tricking a user into importing a malicious site backup file and connecting to an entry having an overly long hostname.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2.1 build 1612. Other versions may also be affected.
