Description: Laurent Gaffié has reported a vulnerability in Snort, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the processing of IPv6 packets and can be exploited to crash Snort when a specially crafted packet is received.
Successful exploitation requires that Snort is compiled using the "--enable-ipv6" option and started with the "-v" command-line switch.
The vulnerability is reported in version 2.8.5. Prior versions may also be affected.
