A security issue has been reported in libtool, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to potentially gain escalated privileges.
The security issue is caused due to the current working directory potentially being used as search path for libraries. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary code by e.g. creating a malicious shared object or a malicious .la file and tricking a user into executing an application using the libtool library in the same directory.
The security issue is reported in versions prior to 2.2.6b.
Solution: Update to version 2.2.6b.
Provided and/or discovered by: Reported by the vendor.
