Secunia Research has discovered some vulnerabilities in Visualization Library, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerabilities are caused due to boundary errors within the "vl::loadDAT()" and "vl::isDAT()" functions in src/vl/vlDAT.cpp. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary code by e.g. tricking a user into opening a specially crafted DAT file.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2009.08.812. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Do not process untrusted DAT files in an application using the library.
