Nahuel Grisolía has discovered some vulnerabilities and a security issue in Hipergate, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion attacks and by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions or conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
1) Input passed via the "title" and "desc" parameters to common/errmsg.jsp and common/pwd_errmsg.jsp is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
2) Access to admin/sql.htm is not properly restricted, which can be exploited to execute arbitrary SQL commands without prior authentication.
3) Input passed via the "nm_campaign" parameter when adding a new campaign is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires privileges to add new campaigns.
The vulnerabilities and the security issue are confirmed in version 5.0-1. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Filter malicious characters and character sequences in a proxy.
