A weakness has been reported in several Intel desktop boards, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to bypass certain security restrictions.

The weakness is caused due to an unspecified error in the System Management Mode (SMM) implementation and can be exploited to modify code running in System Management Mode.

Successful exploitation requires administrative (ring 0) privileges.
