CVE Reference(s):

Description

A vulnerability has been reported in IBM Lotus Domino Web Access / iNotes, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

A boundary error within the Domino Web Access ActiveX control (dwa8.dll, dwa8w.dll) when processing URLs can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow when a user e.g. visits a specially crafted web page.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code, but requires that the Lotus iNotes feature is enabled and that a user has used the iNotes client at least once to have the ActiveX control installed and initialised.

Solution:
Update to version 7.0.4 or upgrade to version 8.5.

Provided and/or discovered by:
Elazar Broad, reported via iDefense Labs.
