Some vulnerabilities have been reported in CMScout, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and cross-site request forgery attacks and disclose sensitive information.
1) Input passed via the "search" parameter to the dynamic page of the "Search Site" module is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected website.
This vulnerability is confirmed in version 2.09. Other versions may also be affected.
2) Input passed via the "lang" parameter to tiny_mce/plugins/ibrowser/ibrowser.php is not properly sanitised before being used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from local resources via directory traversal sequences and URL-encoded NULL bytes.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.
3) The application allows users to perform certain actions via HTTP requests without performing any validity checks to verify the requests. This can be exploited to e.g. change the administrator's password by tricking a logged in administrator into visiting a malicious web site.
The vulnerabilities #2 and #3 are reported in version 2.09. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised and verified. Do not browse untrusted sites or follow untrusted links while being logged-in to the application.
