Two security issues have been reported in GNU gv, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions with escalated privileges and by malicious people to potentially compromise a vulnerable system.
1) An error in the handling of temporary files when processing PDF files can be exploited to overwrite arbitrary files via symlink attacks.
2) An error exists due to the application invoking "gs" without the "-P-" command line option, which can be exploited to execute arbitrary postscript commands if a user is tricked into opening a specially crafted file in an attacker controlled directory.
Solution: Update to version 3.7.0.
