Description


Two vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple iOS, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

1) An error in the parsing of certain opcodes in a CFF (Compact Font Format) font e.g. embedded in a PDF file can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow.

2) An integer overflow error in the handling of IOSurface properties can be exploited to gain escalated privileges.

The vulnerabilities are reported in 4.0.1. Other versions may also be affected.

NOTE: The vulnerabilities are currently exploited to jailbreak a vulnerable device.


Solution:
Update to version 4.0.2 for iPhone or iPod touch or version 3.2.2 for iPad (downloadable and installable via iTunes).
