Description

Some vulnerabilities have been reported in FreeType, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or compromise an application using the library.

1) Two vulnerabilities are caused due to errors when processing certain opcodes of Compact Font Format (CFF) fonts, which can be exploited to cause a stack corruption by tricking a user into processing a specially crafted CFF font in an application using the library.

This is related to:
SA40807

2) A boundary error exists within the "Mac_Read_POST_Resource()" function in src/base/ftobjs.c when processing certain Adobe Type 1 Mac Font File (LWFN) fonts, which can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow by tricking a user into processing a specially crafted LWFN font in an application using the library.

3) An error exists within the "t42_parse_sfnts()" function in src/type42/t42parse.c when processing T42 fonts. This can be exploited to e.g. cause a crash by tricking an application using the library into processing specially crafted T42 fonts.

4) Errors related to the "BOUNDS" macro in src/truetype/ttinterp.c when processing certain fonts can be exploited to e.g. cause a crash by tricking an application using the library into processing specially crafted fonts.

Note: This may only affect 64bit systems.

5) An error exists within the "FT_Stream_EnterFrame()" function in src/base/ftstream.c when processing certain font files. This can be exploited to e.g. cause a crash by tricking an application using the library into processing specially crafted fonts.

Note: This may only affect 64bit systems.
